Katee Sackhoff

6/11/08: Quick updates: Katee has confirmed, as you all probably know by now, that she will have a recurring role this fall on at least four episodes of Nip/Tuck. She will play a new anesthesiologist, and will get to ride a motorcycle in the series. Speaking of motorcycles, there's a lovely video of Katee and Tricia Helfer and a short article about their motorcycle-riding ways at the LA Times website. As soon as we get some other things done around here, expect an update featuring some pictures from that shoot. (There are some pictures up on Tricia's website right now.)

A new gallery has been posted featuring pictures from WizardWorld Philadelphia. More to come. There's a very funny interview with her on their website.

Katee confirmed that she will be at Dragon*Con and that it will likely be her last convention appearance.

5/18/08: According to this report, Katee will have a recurring role on Nip/Tuck. We are trying to confirm this.

5/17/08: Appearances: Katee will not be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live next Friday night. They are working on rescheduling her appearance for later in the summer. She is scheduled to appear the weekend of May 30 – June 1 at WizardWorld in Philadelphia and at Dragon*Con over Labor Day weekend.

Contest update: Rebecca "Beck" Tynan of Australia is the winner of our contest to find problems on the site, and an autographed picture of Katee will be winging its way to her shortly. Now we just have to fix all the errors!

We have some new pictures that will be up shortly. Also, we're working on our first major site redesign, so stay tuned for that.

5/4/08: A quick update: Katee has been named one of TV's Sexiest Stars by TV Guide magazine, and is featured in this week's issue. There was a party on May 1 to celebrate, which Katee attended, and we've added a gallery with a bunch of pictures from that as well as the picture of Katee from the magazine, and a new video of Katee being interviewed at the party by TV Guide's Michael Ausiello.

Katee has been confirmed as a guest at this year's Dragon*Con, which is Labor Day weekend in Atlanta.

Michael Ausiello also reports that Katee nearly got a role on CBS's CSI, as a new character, but the network decided she wasn't right for the part. Their loss, is all we can say!

4/29/08: Updates galore! A bunch of new interviews, some videos we found that we'd forgotten we had, and some new pictures for y'all to go hunting for. (Hints: Interview magazine… and lots more.)

We got a pretty good response to our proposed contest, so we're going to formalize it. Here's the deal: Send us a list of any errors that you find on the site. First prize for most errors found is an autographed picture of Katee. The deadline is May 15th. "Errors" means: Broken links (within the site or to external sites), errors of fact, typoes, duplicated pictures, and just plain anything that isn't right. We want the site to be as good as it can be.

And in that regard as well, we're looking for a slightly different kind of help. Specifically, we're unhappy that there are so few screencaps from seasons 3 and 4 of Battlestar Galactica on the site, and from Katee's non-BSG appearances. So we're looking for some volunteers to go through the huge piles of screencaps we have and select good ones for the site. If you're interested in helping out, email us and we'll work out the details. Rewards will be offered, like autographs (we have a lot of those…) or possibly discs full of pictures of Katee or something.

4/18/08:Katee will be at WizardWorld in Philadelphia May 30 - June 1. Yes, yes, the webmaster will be there too.

We also found a ton of videos we'd forgotten about in various places so expect a mini-update in the next day or two.

Finally, we're considering a contest to help us find broken links and such on the site. An autographed pic of Katee is the probable prize. Is there any interest in such?

4/15/08:Taxes? What are taxes? We haven't been working on our tax returns; we've been working on a big update! Check the interviews page for a bunch of new stuff, new entries in the Battlestar Galactica Season 4 episodes page, and tons of new pictures around the site.

4/7/08:As you may know, tomorrow is Katee's birthday. If you want to send her birthday greetings, go here and leave a comment with your happy birthday wishes. (You don't need a LiveJournal account to comment.)

And yes, we do have an update coming, but we are sorting through large piles of pictures, which is time-consuming. *sigh* Too bad we don't do this full-time! Expect the update in a day or two, unless SciFi unleashes a new round of pictures!

4/3/09:Quick news update: There's a new audio interview with Katee at Amazon.com, and word is that she will be making an appearance on Cort and Fatboy's radio show Friday night. Look for another site update next Monday once we've sorted through everything from the last couple of weeks.

3/19/08: Updated at last! Many new interviews and videos, including Katee on CBC's The Hour, Canadian MTV, CanadaAM, and CBC Radio Q, as well as a couple of short text interviews. Warning: Some of the new material may contain spoilers for Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica. There are a bunch of new pictures as well: The first pictures from the first episode of Season 4, the first promo pictures from Season 4, and a bunch of recently-uncovered pictures from Season 1 can be found in the episode galleries. Many thanks to drewcypher, meshel73, and canadiangirl_86 from LiveJournal for pictures and videos, and to our friends at katee-sackhoff.org for some of the pictures. Oh, there's a whole new gallery of pictures from David Letterman's show as well.

There's a lovely short mention of the Season 3 DVDs that has this to say about Katee: "Best Show, Best Actor on TV: As a true devotee, I feel it's my duty to spread the word about the criminally overlooked Battlestar Galactica. You may be thinking that a science-fiction show is not for you, but give it a few episodes and you will be hooked. Under much of the cultural radar, Katee Sackhoff is delivering one of the fiercest, most heartbreaking performances in recent television history." (emphasis added)

One note: It is generally our policy to not post pictures with watermarks that obscure faces because, well, they're unlovely. However, in the gallery for "Flesh and Bone" (BSG Season 1 episode 8) and the gallery for the BSG "All-Access Event" in 2007, we've posted some because we haven't been able to acquire better copies and the pictures are quite interesting. When/if we get un-watermarked copies we'll post those, of course.

Some reminders: Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica begins on April 4 on SciFi in the US and on Space in Canada. Two specials about the series (Battlestar Galactica: Revisited and Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon) will air at 10:00 EDT/PDT on March 28th on SciFi (and the former is currently available on SciFi.com).

3/13/08: Breaking news: Katee will be on the CBC's The Hour tonight at 11PM. Moreover, she will be live on Canadian MTV at 6PM tonight as well. Also, she will join many other cast members on David Letterman's show next Wednesday, March 19 (11:35 PM EDT/PDT).

2/3/08: A quick update: A bunch of new pictures of Katee from the premiere of Over Her Dead Body, thanks to the folks at katee-sackhoff.net.

1/2/08: Katee has been mentioned in a couple of "best of 2007" lists. Whitney Matheson of USA Today lists her as number 10 on her "Top 100 People of 2007":

10. Katee Sackhoff. Our beloved Starbuck scared the frakkin' daylights out of us last season on Battlestar Galactica, then she stole Jaime Sommers' thunder on Bionic Woman within the span of, oh, three minutes. After BSG fades into the galaxy, casting directors better have the sense to pounce on Sackhoff like a pot o' cubits.

And Boston Now placed her number two on their list of the Top 10 TV Entertainers of 2007:

2) Katee Sackhoff What do Battlestar Galactica's Kara Thrace and Bionic Woman's Sarah Corvus have in common? Both are very strong, very troubled characters trying to figure out who they are and where they fit into the world around them, and both are played by Katee Sackhoff, who makes them each unique and yet still very much her own. Sackhoff owned every second of screen time she got in 2007 in a way no one else came close to matching.

(Emphasis added in both cases. ;-))

1/1/08: Yes, to ring in the New Year, the long-awaited update with all of our pictures from the Battlestar Galactica Convention, plus pictures from the 2007 Love Ride, a few new Bionic Woman pictures, and a great picture of a very young Katee (courtesy of Chris Stenstrom). Also some new videos.

In DVD news, the Battlestar Galactica Season 3 DVDs are scheduled for March 25, according to the most recent information we have. Also, a reminder that White Noise 2 is scheduled for release on January 8. Finally!

11/26/07: OK, let's get one thing straight: No matter what you read, Katee did not say that she was no longer on Bionic Woman nor did she make any "sassy remarks" about Michelle Ryan at last weekend's Battlestar Galactica convention in Burbank. She did say that Bionic Woman's ratings are less than stellar, and that she will be meeting with the new showrunner sometime soon (she said after the Thanksgiving holiday but was not specific) to discuss her future on the show — assuming, that is, that the show has a future. Production on both Battlestar Galactica and Bionic Woman has been shut down because of the writers' strike, and Katee has finished filming both shows for now.

We have a ton of pictures from the con which we will be posting shortly. To tide you over, have a look at some great pictures of Katee and her boyfriend Scott at the Love Ride a couple of weeks ago. (Yes, each one of those is a separate link.)

And finally, remember that the DVD release of Razor is next Tuesday, December 4th. Ours is already on order!

11/15/07: The DVD release of The Last Sentinel is, indeed, the "theatrical" cut, featuring scenes not seen in SciFi's broadcast version. There's also a "making of" featurette, but we haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Consider supporting the members of the Writer's Guild of America in their contract negotiations with the studios. Check out fans4writers for more information.

Last but not least, remember, Katee is a guest at Creation Entertainment's Official Battlestar Galactica Convention this weekend (11/16 – 11/18).

11/11/07: Some DVD news: As previously noted, The Last Sentinel is scheduled for US release on November 13th. White Noise: The Light now has a US release date, January 8, 2008; it's a combo DVD (DVD/HD-DVD) which will include numerous special features, including deleted scenes and a "making of" documentary. Latest word is that the US release of the Season 3 Battlestar Galactica DVDs will coincide with the April 2008 airing of the fourth season.

And speaking of BSG's fourth season, production in Vancouver has shut down after finishing the 10th episode due to the Writer's Guild strike. This means that the fourth season will definitely be split, although how long the delay will be remains to be seen. On the bright side, it also means that Katee gets a little bit of a break, which she certainly deserves!

Razor is scheduled to air on November 24th, with DVD/HD-DVD release to follow on December 4th.

Finally, a new interview from Backstage.com has been posted to the site.

10/29/07: Well, the webmaster's still a bit hazy, but the site update is done. Check out the new Autograph gallery! Also, two new interviews, from the Willamette Week and from Venice magazine. We're accumulating screenshots from BSG season 3, Bionic Woman, The Last Sentinel, White Noise: The Light, and How I Married My High School Crush, so look for those in a later update.

There are two new pictures that we have to point out: Katee's high school picture, and this picture (found by x_getcrunk from LiveJournal) — check out who's in the front row, second from left!! That's Oregon Swimming's 1992 Western Zone Championships team.

Don't forget that Katee will be at Creation Entertainment's Official Battlestar Galactica convention November 16 – 18.

In not-so-pleasant news, the clever folks at SciFi Network have finally announced that the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica will begin airing in April 2008. No word yet on whether or not the season will be split in two, with the second half airing in 2009 (as widely rumored). The good news is that Sky, the UK satellite channel, have broadcast rights for season four and may begin airing it sooner than SciFi does. (They've done this in the past; season one aired completely on Sky before being broadcast in the U.S.) Get ready to download… Also, still no release date for the Season 3 DVDs, although Razor is scheduled for DVD release on December 4.

10/24/07:Sorry that last weekend's update didn't happen; the webmaster had surgery on her shoulder and has spent the last few days in a drug-induced haze. A pleasant, drug-induced haze, but it did somewhat affect her typing ability. (Indeed, she had to type that last sentence like, three times.)

There's a very interesting interview with Katee at the Willamette Week website, including her high school picture (awwww...).

Plus, she's featured in this month's (October) issue of Venice magazine, a local L.A. arts monthly. Scans will be on the site this weekend (really). The next update will feature the new autograph gallery, and a subsequent update will rearrange the galleries a bit and give Bionic Woman a larger presence, including screenshots. We'll also be adding screenshots from Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. (Yes, finally; we've given up on waiting for DVDs.) If any of the fans out there have suggestions for the site, such as things you'd like to see, please let us know.

The Last Sentinel is scheduled for release on DVD on November 13th. We don't know if this is the TV cut or the full, uncut version, although we suspect the latter. There still doesn't appear to be a U.S. release date for White Noise: The Light, although it's been available elsewhere in the world for a while now. Time to get a region-free DVD player…

10/18/07: Apologies again for being so slow with updates — our only excuse is that we've been to two conventions and have a ton of new pictures from them in the galleries (Chicago and Sacramento). There are also some new interviews/articles, new Bionic Woman pictures, and pictures from the Battlestar Galactica movie Razor. This weekend we will add a new gallery devoted to autographs, so you can all see the range of Katee's signature, and a few other goodies as well.

9/27/07: We can now confirm what we guessed ages ago: Katee is one of the voice actors in Halo 3. Plus, a new interview from metro.co.uk.

Hopefully we have fixed the codec problem with the E! Daily 10 video. Please let us know if we haven't, and if there are other similarly afflicted files.

9/26/07: Katee was on E!'s Daily 10 tonight (courtesy of Alanna). Surfing!

She also made an appearance on Cort and Fatboy's show this evening, and the interview can be found here as well as on this site.

And, needless to say, she's been getting tons of great press for Bionic Woman. Check these out:

The Houston Chronicle : "The show also gets a great villainous turn from Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff."

Entertainment Weekly: "Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar) ... shows up as the very first bionic woman, gone bad, determined to get badder. 'I'm cutting away all the parts of me that are weak,' she tells Jaime, creepily, before trying to kill her. The problem is, if you're a fan of Sackhoff's throaty, chin-jutty delivery, she absolutely overpowers the callow Ryan, and if you're not a fan of Sackhoff...she still overpowers Ryan."

USA Today: "...there's the hour's one bright spot — Katee Sackhoff, another Battlestar transfer, as a bionic woman gone bad. Alas, while it's fine to have a villain who is more colorful than your hero, it's not so fine to have a supporting actor who makes your star vanish whenever they're on screen together. It makes you think that what this remake of a spinoff really needs is a spinoff of its own."

The Boston Herald: "Jaime looks as quaint as an 8-track tape when she meets up with the first cybernetic woman, Sarah Corvis, played by Katee Sackhoff in a recurring role.

"Sackhoff is already a pinup in the lesbian community thanks to her role as a battle-worn fighter pilot on the Sci Fi hit series Battlestar Galactica. As Corvis, she’s ready to storm the set of The L Word.

"When she and Jaime meet for the first time, those flying sparks aren’t coming from just their bionics.

"'What do you want from me?' Jaime demands during a rooftop confrontation.

"'Honestly, I’m not sure,' Sarah answers lazily. 'Jogging partner?'

"Sackhoff’s delivery of this twisted metal killer is delicious. She shows Ryan to be the Inferior Woman."

Seattle Post-Intelligencer: "Except for the fact that Sarah Corvus, the very pissed-off 'original bionic woman,' is played by Battlestar's Katee Sackhoff -- an actress who, speaking of reimagined characters, made the second Starbuck a lot studlier and more dangerous than the figure cut by Dirk Benedict in the '70s.

"You stop believing in Ryan's Sommers whenever Sackhoff's Corvus is around, and start hoping that the scientists who created her come to the conclusion that, you know, maybe that first project wasn't so bad after all."

The Dallas-Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "...the premiere has a strong action quotient and great special effects, as well as a marvelous guest appearance by Battlestar's Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Govis, the previous bionic woman, who has developed a really bad attitude (Sackhoff's delivery of the line "Time in" before a rainy rooftop fight is reason enough to catch the premiere). As she does on Battlestar, Sackhoff adds a dash of panache that leavens the occasional heavy-handedness."

SFist: "On the hit side is Katee 'Starbuck' Sackhoff as the rogue, first bionic woman; totally loved her response to Jaime Sommers, 'What do you want from me?!' plea. Speaking of Jamie Sommers, that's on the miss side. We acknowledge that Michelle Ryan is quite the looker. But she just doesn't bring enough spark to her bionic woman, and that's probably why the producers decided to expand Sackhoff's role in the series. Plus, villains are always more fun than good guys."

The Columbus Dispatch: "...Sackhoff steals the premiere. The series would still be fun without her, but, luckily, she is signed on to return."

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "...a bigger hurdle may simply be that Sackhoff's evil character, by virtue of being more mysterious and due to her superior performance, is more intriguing than Jaime Sommers."

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel : "Signs of hot-blooded life, and a glint of welcome comic relief, come in the form of Sarah (Katee Sackhoff), a renegade bionic woman who does battle with Jaime. With her slicked-back hair and kissy red lips, Sarah seems to come from a different bionics lab - one with a livelier notion of robo-humanity."

nj.com: "...I think one of the reasons I and so many other critics responded so strongly to Katee Sackhoff as Sarah -- aside from the massive charisma advantage she has over Ryan -- is that she's the only person in the entire show who seems to be enjoying herself.

9/24/07: Site update as promised. OK, a day or two late. There are some new gallery pictures, especially in the Other Public Appearances gallery, a couple of new videos, and two new interviews, one from SciFi Magazine and one from Death Ray.

Don't forget to watch Katee on Bionic Woman, premiering this Wednesday night on NBC, at 9:00/8:00 Central!

Katee will be at Creation Entertainment's Star Trek/Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica convention in Sacramento this coming weekend (9/28 – 9/30) and also the one the following weekend in Chicago (10/5 – 10/7). Yes, yes, we'll be there, heck, Sacramento is driving distance for us! And Chicago's just a short flight away! We did speak to Katee's representative at Dragon*Con, who told us that Katee had to miss it because she was filming Bionic Woman (as we'd suspected) but promised to get her to Dragon*Con next year.

If your French is better than ours — and whose isn't? — there's a new French website devoted to Katee.

9/15/07: There will be a major site update this weekend. Apologies for not updating recently; the webmaster has been ill in addition to being very busy. :-(

Katee looked fabulous at the TV Guide Emmy Awards after-party! Some pics will be in the weekend update.

8/11/07: Sadly, it appears that Katee will not be at Dragon*Con after all. She is listed on their website as a cancellation. We are trying to find out the details, but we'd guess that she's going to be working on Bionic Woman, since Battlestar Galactica is taking a production break this month.

Yes, we are severely bummed, but not so severely that we're not going to the Con. It is Dragon*Con, after all!

8/8/07: Some more video from Comic Con (WARNING: Very big file!), an older clip from the Saturn Awards, and six clips of Katee (including a 12-minute interview) from Mars Production's video of Starbase Indy last Thanksgiving.

8/7/07: Lots of updates: New galleries from the San Diego Comic Con and Katee's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel's show, plus some updates in the Polaris 21, Bionic Woman, White Noise 2, and other galleries; new videos from Comic Con, BSGCast, and some clips from The Education of Max Bickford; and a new interview from Hollywood.com — plus, some updates to the FAQ. Special thanks to Justine at www.katee-sackhoff.org for many of the new pictures.

7/31/07: Katee will be on Jimmy Kimmel's show tomorrow night!

7/29/07:

7/18/07: Katee's all over the news today, thanks to Bionic Woman. She finally signed a deal yesterday to continue on the show. Links to some stories:

David Eick said some fairly amusing and also complimentary things in Mo Ryan's Chicago Tribune story:

• Was there a concern that Sackhoff could overshadow Michelle Ryan, who plays the title character? “I know Katee really well, she can be kept in check,” said David Eick, another one of the show’s executive producers. “Withhold her snacks, she’ll be good.”
• He added that Sackhoff is “a pure ensemble player”: “She really does, I think, bring out the best in the people she's working with and vice versa. She learns a lot from the actors she works with. It's hard to find actors to do that. There does tend to be, I think, a quality, a lot of performers who either need to the center or they kind of disappear. And Katee Sackhoff is just a unique performer, a unique craftsman in that respect. She does hold the frame with the other people in it extremely well.”

Katee mentioned, in response to a question at Polaris21 in Toronto, that one of the issues between her and the Bionic Woman deal was that she is very committed to Battlestar Galactica, since this is its final season, and that she had experience last year with working on two productions at the same time (BSG and White Noise 2) and wanted to make sure that she was able to satisfy her commitments to both shows without killing herself in the process.

7/17/07: Many updates to the site: A new gallery for Katee's appearance at Polaris21. A new interview from Starburst. Some new pictures from The Bionic Woman, How I Married My High School Crush (expect screen caps from this this weekend), The Last Sentinel, and White Noise 2 (expect screen caps from that as soon as our multi-region DVD player arrives). Plus some other assorted new pictures in the other galleries — you'll just have to look. (That's such a hardship, we know.)

There is now a community on LiveJournal associated with this website. If you are a LiveJournal member, please join us! If you're not a LiveJournal member, why not? You can create a journal for free.

There's a fine interview with Katee on the BSGcast website. We're working on getting a copy for this site as well. It's from the Polaris21 con in Toronto.

Finally, Katee will be appearing at the San Diego International Comic Con on Saturday, July 28th, at a panel for The Bionic Woman in the morning and also at a Battlestar Galactica panel that afternoon. This is the only convention we know of that Katee is doing this year in North America that your webmaster is not attending. Katee is probably relieved...

By popular demand, we've added a page with a list of Katee's convention appearances. We plan to add a permanent link somewhere and also update it with information about previous con appearances (because we're weird like that).
